Shani Dev Temple, Namkum, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India,

This Sani Dev (God Saturn) temple is located in Jharkhand State of India.  Capital city Ranchi of state Jharkhand is beautiful city in terms of weather, climate, connectivity and Industry.  People of different religion, cast, and sect live here. They work here and get livelihood by different means.

Namkum is small part of city Ranchi, where Sani Temple is located. Namkum is itself a Block (administrative office where B.D.O and C.O with Police station) from where local level administrative work is executed and monitored by concern authority.  State’s educational head performs his work from Namkum (JAC Board).

This Sani Temple is located in Namkum near river Swarnrekha.  E.S.I hospital is just opposite this temple. A large temple of Goddess Kaali is also here.

In this Sani Temple there is statue of God Saturn where people do worship and offer sweets, fruits to god and then distribute it to people. (Prasadam)

Devotee come here for special ritual on Saturday for fulfilling their wishes. The head priest (Pujari) is a saint, Sadhu Naga Lal Giri in short called ‘Lal Baba’ (red grand Paa).  His name red grandfather is because of his wearing red cloth all the times.  His beard is long and he is a senior citizen means aged people.

In this temple there is also a Snake Temple (Nag Baba Mandir) where a pair of Cobra, male and female statue is fixed on a platform. In India people worship snake as Nag Devta.  This Cobra God (Naag Devta) is worshiped because he holds the load of earth on his back and body. God Shiv (Lord Shankar) also holds the snake in his neck.  It is also related with Time-snake –fault (Kaal Sarp Dosh).  In India as per birth chart, if there is some fault in Kundli which is related to our ancestor’s fault we must inherit that property and get punishment. So, to avoid it or to nullify it we do worship of snake also as per guided by Astrologer, Jyotish, Pandit, Saint.
